Join our online workshop which will shine a spotlight on the emotional and ethical challenges faced by those working and volunteering in community food support.
Based on the latest research from the Alliance for Dignified Food Support, the session—Managing Hunger Trauma in Community Food Support—will explore how systemic failures in UK food policy are driving moral distress, burnout, and psychological harm in a workforce propping up a broken welfare system.
Led by Carl Walker and Stef Lake, the workshop will share key findings from their new report and open up space for collective reflection and action. It will also introduce a new national initiative, developed with food partnerships and unions, to give voice to frontline food support workers and push for systemic change.
The session is aimed at food partnerships, food poverty alliances, community food aid providers, educators, and others working in or around community food support.
Sustain: Sustain The alliance for better food and farming advocates food and agriculture policies and practices that enhance the health and welfare of people and animals, improve the working and living environment, enrich society and culture and promote equity.
