Help save Newham City Farm

This week Newham council is discussing plans to close the borough's city farm, but the local community is rallying to fight its closure starting with a petition.

Newham City Farm first opened its doors in 1977 and since then has been a valuable community asset, providing generations of residents and inner-city children with access to nature, wildlife as well as therapeutic services for local people with additional needs.

More than 5,000 people have signed the petition to save the farm, making the case for why it is so important and needed by the local community.

London's city farms and community gardens play a critical role in providing local people with access to nature, opportunities to grow food as well as create more community and climate resilience within their local communities. The pandemic has taught us we need these spaces now more than ever so we must protect, and fight for, them.
