Sustain at the party conferences

This year we are involved in a number of events at the Labour, Conservative, and Co-operative party conferences.

Labour Party Conference

Sunday 22nd September

10:00 Durham Hall Room 4 Hilton Brighton Metropole 

Imogen Richmond-Bishop, our right to food programme coordinator will be speaking on the panel of "the Right to Food: addressing hunger in modern Britain head on" alongside Kartik Raj from Human Rights Watch; Deidre "Dee" Woods Granville Community Kitchen and Independent Food Aid Network Trustee; Kate Middleton, Labour Hunger Campaign; and Laura Pidcock MP, Shadow Minister for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy.

This event is sponsored by the Labour Campaign for Human Rights, Human Rights Watch, Sustain, the Independent Food Aid Network, and End Hunger UK.

Ben Reynolds, our deputy chief executive will be on the panel of the Labour's Menu for Change: The Role of Food in Tackling the Climate Emergency event. He will appear alongside Shadow Defra Secretary Sue Hayman MP, Bryn Kewley, Labour Climate Change advisor, Louise Davies of the Vegan Society, and Dr Helen Harwatt, Animal Law and Policy Fellow at Harvard Law School. 

This event is organised by SERA - Labour's Environment Campaign with The Vegan Society & Sustain

Tuesday 24th September

12:30 The Grand 97-99 King’s Road Brighton BN1 2FW.

Vicki Hird, our Farm Campaign Coordinator will be at the Country Land and Business Association (CLA) event on the panel discussing How farming can play its part in reducing climate change' with Shadow Defra Secretary Sue Hayman MP, Susan Twining of the CLA and Chaired by Abi Kay of Farmers Guardian.

Imogen Richmond-Bishop, our right to food programme coordinator will be speaking at the Co-Operative Party's Rally Against Hunger. 

Imogen Richmond-Bishop will be speaking alongside Sue Hayman MP, Shadow Secretary of State DEFRA, Margaret Greenwood MP, Shadow Secretary of State DWP, Phil Glanville, Mayor of Hackney, Hannah-Mae Trow, End Hunger UK, Garry Lemon, Director of Policy and External Affairs at the Trussell Trust, Cllr Kemi Akinola, CEO and Founder of Be Enriched, Jane Middleton, Labour campaign against Hunger; Dee Woods, Trustee of Independent Food Aid Network; James Butler, Cooperative Party.


Conservative Party Conference 

Monday 30th September

16:30 The PLMR Business Hub.

Ben Reynolds, Sustain deputy chief executive, is speaking on a panel, organised by Company Shop, No time to waste: Protecting resources needs to be everyone’s business. He will be joined by expert players from across the sector debating and exploring sustainable solutions to tackle today’s biggest environmental challenges.


Co-operative Party Conference

Saturday 12th October

4.30-5.30pm DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central, Glasgow G2 3HN

Imogen Richmond-Bishop will be speaking at the Co-operative party conference in Glasgow alongside a colleague from Menu for Change.

She will talk about the current situation of the right to food in the UK and why it is so important that our Government upholds it's human rights obligations and incorporates our right to food into domestic legislation.
