Throughout September CPRE are holding more than 20 litter picking events up and down the country. Not only will they help clean the countryside they are also building the case for the best possible deposit return system. Earlier this year the government announced that a plastic returns scheme will be introduced in England. There will be a consultation on the scheme this autumn and the CPRE Green Clean will contribute valuable evidence.

CPRE will bring their reverse vending machine to the Green Cleans. The machine collects drinks containers of all materials and sizes and rewards litter pickers with 10p for every drinks containers collected. In the first event in Brigg, Lincolnshire volunteers came together to collect 451 littered bottles and cans, and turned them all into cash.
