Consumers won't find the full Fairtrade Mark on Mars Bars since only the cocoa in them is Fairtrade and to carry the Fairtrade Mark 100% of the product must be Fairtrade. However, Mars has committed to sourcing 'all the cocoa that goes into their Mars Bars sold in the UK and Ireland on Fairtrade terms'. Sustain member the Fairtrade Foundation welcomed Mars' commitment saying Mars would be 'investing £1.5 million a year by 2016 into West African cocoa communities through the Fairtrade Premium.'
