Well over half of London’s boroughs now have school meal service contracts with the Soil Association’s Food for Life Catering Mark accreditation for fresh, sustainably sourced food at Bronze, Silver or Gold levels.
This training day is designed to help those responsible for school meal service contracts understand, monitor and get the best out of a Food for Life accredited service.
All delegates will leave with:
- Clear understanding of the Food for Life standards and verification process.
- Checklist of what to look for when monitoring a Food for Life school meal contract.
- Tips on ensuring Food for Life contracts deliver value for money.
A Food for Life Gold standard lunch will be provided.
Training facilitated by Stephanie Wood, director, School Food Matters and Joanna Lewis, head of policy, Soil Association, with contributions from members of the Food for Life Catering Mark verification team.
Food Legacy: The campaign, launched October 2011, is inspired by the London 2012 Food Vision adopted by the organisers of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Food Legacy asks caterers, restaurants, event organisers and hospitality organisations to commit publicly to taking steps to improve the healthiness, ethics and sustainability of the food they serve.
