Campaign group working to safeguard antibiotics shortlisted for award

The Alliance to Save our Antibiotics has been shortlisted for an award that recognises the efforts and achievements of European NGOs in reducing threats to human health.

Sustain is proud to announce that the Alliance to Save our Antibiotics is one of eight NGOs shortlisted for the European Commission’s EU Health Award.

The Alliance is a coalition of health, medical, farming, environmental and civil society organisations from across the EU. It was founded by Sustain, with Sustain members Compassion in World Farming and the Soil Association, and is supported by the Jeremy Coller Foundation.

The Alliance is calling for a ban on the routine preventative use of antibiotics in groups of healthy animals in the UK and the EU, and for dramatic reductions to farm use of the ‘Critically Important’ antibiotics.
