The tool helps schools and other groups growing food to track how much food they can grow throughout the year and convert this into kilograms and pounds (£). Schools who register will receive training and seeds to use alongside the Harvest-ometer, as well as bespoke lesson plans designed to engage students and encourage schools to use food growing to deliver the curriculum.
Prizes will be awarded in July 2016 for the most food grown per square metre, the biggest range of produce and to Growing School Heroes. Winning schools will receive a stall at our School Marketplace at City Hall as well as one of the following prizes:
- A mini orchard and apple press
- Visit from a professional beekeeper
- A chicken coop, rescued chicken and 20% discount on chicken care training
Schools will also receive a certificate highlighting how many pupils were involved and how many kilograms of food were harvested and the monetarty value of this food.
