Sugary drinks tax discussed by Welsh government

Shadow Health Minister, Elin Jones has called for the Welsh Government to introduce a tax on sugary drinks.

Speaking in the National Assembly of Wales during a debate on obesity Mr Jones asked the First Minister to consider a sugary drinks tax to reduce sugar in the Welsh diet and reduce obesity.  However Carwyn Jones, the First Minister said that while this was an interesting idea it was not sufficient on its own to tackle excessive sugar consumption.
