A tale of two visions of farming

While the bigwigs of agribusiness gathered at the Oxford Farming Conference, the do-ers and thinkers of sustainable farming gathered in another part of the city. Two days of debate and workshops at the Oxford Real Farming Conference kicked off with a panel discussion featuring Sustain's coordinator Kath Dalmeny.

The Oxford Real Farming Conference was set up to challenge the 'received wisdom' aired annually at the Oxford Farming Conference. According to its founder, the agronomist and ecologist Colin Tudge, the two events 'represent two totally different views of farming, indeed two different philosophies of life. And they lead us towards completely different, and in many ways opposing, strategies.'

Colin set out his arguments in a blog to accompany the conference, which can be found here. At the event itself, several sessions were led by Sustain -- details and videos will be posted over coming weeks on the conference website here.
