No Dig Gardening and Mulching Techniques
Wednesday 9 September 2020 18:00 00:00
Find out why no-dig gardening is so good for the soil (and your crops!) and how mulching can help you to achieve soil health.
A no-dig system is a fantastic and low-impact way of managing growing space. This session focuses on the principles of no-dig cultivation and the effect it has on the soil and subsequent harvests. Covering a transition year to no-dig, plus ongoing routines to form a healthy and productive ground. Learn what mulches work and how to apply them effectively to the growing area.
Trainer: Helena Dove
Helena currently manages the Kitchen Garden at Kew Gardens, which is run organically and gives its produce to the on-site cafes and for vegetable sales. Previously, she ran the historic Kitchen Garden at Myddelton House Gardens in Enfield. Before working in horticulture, Helena was a qualified teacher, specialising in Music Technology.
