Planting for pollinators

This session will give an introduction to beneficial pollinators and how to identify the insects and wildlife you want to welcome to your garden space. Learn about beneficial plants and alternative ways of gardening that provide habitats and increase biodiversity, such as eco-horticulture and polyculture.

In this workshop you'll explore the pollinator friendly planting zones and a beehive in the Story Garden, Kings Cross, and see first hand how they have incorporated bug hotels, wildlife friendly planters and other interventions in the growing space.

You will also have a chance to plant some wildlife friendly containers that you can take away to grow at home, suitable for a balcony garden.

About your trainer: Fran Reeves

Fran has worked in community development and engagement for over a decade, supporting educational opportunities in both creative practices and gardening. She's an experienced horticultural trainer and has taught Level 2 Practical Horticulture at both OrganicLea and Walworth Garden.

Having worked in the horticultural industry for over 15 years, Fran has deep understanding of differing growing environments, climate change adaptations, particularly in urban environments.
