Clay! Cloddy, mucky stuff that sticks to your boots and is a pain to turnover … but also sweet, fertile soil that holds water like nothing else! Here in London we’re beset by all the benefits and limitations of working with clay. Join us at the Capital Growth Allotments to get to grips with the important considerations when working with clay, how to improve it, indeed, how to learn to love it!

Richard is a long-time plantsperson working in participatory green space to facilitate positive social change. He studied at Ryton Organic Gardens, Cambridge University Botanic Gardens, Kew Gardens. In recent years he has been delivering community food growing and nature engagement projects in London. He spent the past year becoming intimately acquainted with a plot of clay soil in Haringey, bringing it into cultivation with Black Rootz, a Black-led food growing project.

This event is free with access to toilets and sheltered indoor space if needed. Tea, coffee and biscuits will also be offered to attendees during the session break.

To attend, you must register via The Royal Parks ticket balloting system for the chance to win a free ticket. Once you have entered the ballot, you will find out whether you have been successful or not via email a week before the session date. Good luck!

Please head over to The Royal Parks event page here to register before 10am on the 22nd of June.
