How to manage pests in your garden without using chemicals or other nasties!
Gardening can feel like a difficult balancing act between avoiding harsh chemicals, allowing for insects and wildlife to come to your garden and stopping pests munching on your prized plants. But it doesn’t have to be, you can have a wildlife friendly garden that helps you manage pests, without any damaging chemical use.
In this session you’ll learn a variety of techniques on how to manage pests in your garden without damaging plants or wildlife, from companion plants, to nematodes and friendly insects. We’ll go through an arsenal of easy-to-use and efficient techniques to keep your plot healthy and mostly pest free.
About your trainer:
Julie Smith is a food grower, soil life enthusiast and seed saver based in Devon. Before moving down to the South West she lived in London where she managed the Regent’s Park Allotment Garden for Capital Growth, and created a number of inner city gardens with the charity Global Generation.
Julie now manages a community garden in central Exeter, and is planning on starting a living community seed bank there. She shares her tips on her website Sow & Grow, and regularly delivers training on gardening, food growing, and seed saving.
