We're very pleased to announce an exciting new collaboration with our friends at The Royal Parks to launch a free food growing taster session series taking place at Regent’s Park Allotment Garden.

If you think that there’s nothing worth growing through the darker months, think again! We’ll explore what the autumn and winter seasons mean to plant life, and look at the range of delicious crops you can grow and harvest during these parts of the year. We’ll also discuss what preparations you’ll need to make during the summer months to have plants well established by the time of the autumn equinox.

Trainer bio

Paul Richens has been an organic gardener and worm-botherer since his farming parents gave him his own plot at the age of three. He worked for many years as a scientific photographer at the Natural History Museum, which informed his understanding and love of natural history; then as a video producer/director in the United States before he sent up his own horticultural training company, Blue Dome Synergies, in 2008. He was Gardens Manager for Global Generation at the Skip Garden at King’s Cross for ten years while also running workshops for Capital Growth and supporting other London community gardening projects. Now semi-retired, he is still passionate about growing organic vegetables in any small space and advocates working with nature, using a ‘no kill’ policy.

This event is free with access to toilets and sheltered indoor space if needed. Tea, coffee and biscuits will also be offered to attendees during the session break.

To attend, you must register via The Royal Parks ticket balloting system for the chance to win a free ticket. Once you have entered the ballot, you will find out whether you have been successful or not via email a week before the session date. Good luck!

Please head over to The Royal Parks event page here to register before 10am on the 29th of May.
