London’s biggest celebration of urban food is back

Get ready to dive into everything good about food in London this Urban Food Fortnight From 20th September to 7th October, Londoners will be treated to the biggest ever menu of good food events, celebrating all that is grown, made, cooked, saved, foraged and – even bigger this year – fermented in the capital.

And you can check it out from the comfort of your phone, as London Food Link have created a brand new interactive Urban Food Fortnight map to make it even easier to explore London’s local larder. This is complemented by its sister Good Food Map, self-titled as the place to find good food places all year round.

Feast your eyes on this…

With over 100 events set to take place across the city, #UFF2018 has something for everyone. Kicking off this year’s 17-day-extravaganza is the Food Talk at Impact Hub Kings Cross focusing on those that make good food in the capital.  Or if you prefer the dining experience, then we have no less than two East London supper clubs taking place on the launch night; The Bear Kitchen has created a communal dining experience mixing Nordic traditions with Asian influences, while over the road at 119 Clapton Road, Eleven98Hackney invites you to enjoy seven courses of Hackney’s finest produce.

“We are delighted that dozens of old friends and new have already listed their fantastic events, with firm favourites such as Crayfish Bob’s Crawfish Boil as well as exciting new ideas like Small Beer’s brewery sessions” commented Sarah Williams, part of the London Food Link team at Sustain.

And here are 10 (or so) top picks tantalising our taste buds this UFF:

  • 22: Urban Harvest, Capital Growth’s free annual open day when community gardens across the capital welcome visitors to share in their harvest and while you are there why not book onto Urban Herbal with Hackney Herbal and Hackney City Farm, celebrating the abundance of herbs grown in the city. Then round the day off at the Skip Garden’s London’s Pizza Party and Aperitivo Night

Urban Food Fortnight was set up and is run by London Food Link, the voice of good food in the capital. Each year it connects thousands of Londoners with the hidden gems of London’s good food scene as well as growers, producers, restauranteurs and pretty much everyone interested in food. Many of the pop-up events featured provide a one-off chance for urban-dwellers to sample ultra-local menus, find food growing in the city or find some of the quirkiest supper clubs around.

There’s still time to plan and list your own event; or just fill your diary with all your top picks before the events get fully booked. And make sure you sign up to our newsletter to hear about discounts and competitions first. Check out the #UFF2018 map now!
