The questionnaire was devised to gather general information about community food projects; description of services/initiative, the beneficiaries, location, structure, funding etc. It then went on to ask specifically about social enterprise activities.
There were approximately 900 questionnaires distributed via email and post. It was sent to a range of statutory and non-statutory organisations, community food projects and networks, social enterprise networks and organisations. Some email respondents said they had passed the email on to others, and some gave multiple addresses.
The projects that responded are spread over several different types of locality (rural, town, urban fringe, inner city).
