Sustain, with support from the Bertha Foundation, has launched a new factory farming activist toolkit, created with and for local campaigners who are challenging intensive livestock developments in their communities.
The toolkit brings together practical guidance on how to respond to proposed factory farms, including:
- An overview of how the planning system works
- A map of recent and live applications that the public can object to
- Step-by-step advice on submitting objections
- Template letters based on recent successful campaigns
- Guidance on monitoring environmental and welfare breaches
- Tips for organising locally and working with councillors, MPs and the media
The resource is designed to support residents, food partnerships, community groups and organisers who want to protect local environments, improve animal welfare and promote more sustainable farming.
