Revised guidelines for public caterers

Public Health England has updated its nutritional guidance for caterers to reflect new government advice on healthy eating.

Public Health England has produced a suite of publications updating the advice it provides to public sector caterers, to reflect the dietary advice represented in the Government's new Eatwell Guide.

The publications include a document setting out the underpinning principles for 'healthier and more sustainable' catering, although the emphasis throughout the documents is on nutrition rather than sustainability. There are specific guidelines on catering for adults and older people in residential care, with related documents providing advice for commissioners of catering and users of the Government Buying Standards for Food and Catering Services.

The documents can be found here. Read Sustain's guidelines for healthier and more sustainable catering. Sustain campaigns for a greener, healthier and fairer food system. Read more about our activities here.
