A civil society coalition campaigning for a just transition to a better food system launches in Scotland, calling for a Food, Farming and Health Act
The Scottish Food Coalition is an alliance of civil society organisations working for a 'just transition to a better food system'. Member organisations work on the environment, poverty, health, workers rights, food production and animal welfare. They have come together to work on food in recognition of the fact that the problems in the current food system are interconnected and cannot be changed by focusing on single issues. The Coalition launches on 7 March in Glasgow with a workshop looking at what a socially and environmentally just food system would look like, and at how members can most effectively work together. A key proposal is for a Food, Farming and Health Act for Scotland. Find out more about the workshop here, and read their first report Plenty: Food, Farming and Health in a New Scotland.
