News: A Department of Food for Every City
Research from New York based University at Buffalo has shown a lack of engagement with food policy by local government in the US. Academics from the University say this is leading to food access and health problems for local consumers as well as a lack of support for local farmers. They would like to see a greater priority given to food systems in local government, calling for food policy councils, like those already operating in Washington and Baltimore, in every city.
