Kellogg’s have taken the Government to court over the cereal manufacturer’s opposition to the Nutrient Profile Model which is used to assess the healthiness of products. The NPM is used as a basis for many Government health policies including those restricting the promotion of products that fail to meet the threshold.

Reports: Briefing: Public Sector Catering - opportunities and issues relating to sustainable food procurement

This briefing paper - examining opportunities and issues relating to sustainable food procurement in the public sector - is one of several on themes relating to Sustainable Food Chains. It formed part of an initiative started by Sustain in 2002, to promote local and sustainable food. The aim of the Sustainable Food Chains project was to help British farming and sustainable production following the devastating effects on farming and the rural economy of foot and mouth disease. The work also informed development of Sustain's successful Good Food on the Plate project, which helped public sector institutions buy and serve healthier and more sustainable food.

News: First cities in the UK to be awarded sustainable food city status

Brighton & Hove, Cardiff, Plymouth and the London Borough of Lambeth have become the first places in the UK to be awarded Sustainable Food City status, recognising pioneering work promoting healthy and sustainable food. A rapidly growing movement is mobilising people in towns and cities across the UK transforming access to affordable and sustainable food as members of the Sustainable Food Cities Network.
