News: Parliamentary committee criticises the government’s ‘leisurely approach to food security’
The Government has responded to the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Select committee report on food security. The Select Committee report, published in July 2023, urged the Government to tackle the accessibility and affordability of healthy food for households across the UK. However, the committee chair, Sir Robert Goodwill, has criticised the government response and their ‘leisurely approach to tackling unhealthy eating habits’.

News: Voluntary controls on junk food ads endangers children's health
In the Public Health White Paper, it is said that the Government will set out its preferred option for voluntary controls on junk food advertising to children. But Sustain's Children's Food Bill campaign argues that each year that legislation is delayed, an estimated 40,000 children will become obese.

News: Top chefs tell PM to ban junk food marketing to kids
An open letter from more than twenty prominent food writers and chefs today calls on the Prime Minister to support the Children's Food Bill to protect children from being targeted by junk food advertisers. The letter's signatories include Raymond Blanc, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Sophie Grigson, Marguerite Patten OBE, Gary Rhodes, Nigel Slater, Rick Stein and Antony Worrall Thompson.
