The Global Food Crisis Report shows rise in the amount of people starving. The areas most in need are north-eastern Nigeria, Somalia, Yemen and South Sudan, where nearly 32 million people were food-insecure and in need of urgent assistance.

News: Labour in the food supply chain – are we prepared for 2021?
Government Ministers have stated that the UK will turn to the domestic labour market for the food supply chain in 2021. Currently the UK’s agriculture and wider food supply chain sector are heavily reliant on non-UK workers, so the comments have prompted concerns that there will be a shortage of labour following the UK’s new points-based immigration system. The comments were made at an Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee meeting this week (Tuesday 17 Nov) during which Defra and Home Office ministers faced questions.

A new report from Unicef finds that 10% of British under-15s live in households that experience severe food insecurity -- which means they sometimes go hungry, have to skip meals and have parents or carers who worry about being able to provide food.
