Jubilee Food Network

We aim to improve access to good food for all by working towards Sustainable Food Cities' six key issues: 1. Promoting healthy & sustainable food to the public; 2. Tackling food poverty, diet-related ill health & access to affordable healthy food; 3. Building community food knowledge, skills, resources & projects; 4. Promoting a vibrant & diverse sustainable food economy; 5. Transforming catering & food procurement; 6. Reducing waste & the ecological footprint of the food system

Members: Sandwell Churches' Link (a network of approx 80 churches working together to reduce poverty in Sandwell); Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations (a membership organisation providing support to over 2000 voluntary organisations/groups in Sandwell); Ideal for All (a user-led charity and social enterprise working to make life better for disabled, elderly and vulnerable people and their carers, including 'Growing Opportunities' which has 3 excellent horticulture sites & wide-ranging food work)

How Jubilee Food Network is taking action to help tackle food poverty

Improving coordination and navigation of the local welfare safety net
Ensuring children’s access to food 365 days a year through support of holiday food provision, breakfast clubs and uptake of free school meals
Empowering experts by experience in the alliance’s strategic work
Developing and implementing a food poverty action plan
Ensuring all residents have physical access to good food
Supporting alternative retail, e.g. community shops, cooperatives
