Our annual and allows us track what London councils are doing to improve household food insecurity.

Since 2002, London Food Link has been campaigning for a good food system that benefits all Londoners. We aim to act as the voice for good food in the capital and ensure that healthy, ethical and sustainable food remains an issue on the political plate. Beyond the Food Bank is our annual report which looks at what local authorities are doing to reduce food poverty across a range of measures.

Food security is achieved when people are able to feed themselves and their dependents adequately, healthily and without anxiety. Our 10 measures, which monitor a range of initiatives such healthy start living wage, free school meal etc. , all represent existing policies that councils can improve on to make a difference to the health and wellbeing of residents.

Data for the measures are provided by the boroughs themselves, with exception of Unicef Baby Friendly Accreditation and London Living Wage which are provided by Unicef UK and the London Living Wage Foundation respectively. Once received, the data is analysed and graded to come up with the overall score for the league table and normed so that it can be represented on the maps seen throughout this resource.

Beyond the Food Bank is produced by The Food Poverty Campaign

The Food Poverty Campaign is a London Food Link project. London Food Link is the umbrella for all of Sustain's initiatives in London. Our work includes helping to influence local government policy, hands-on food growing training, running sessions for public sector caterers, creating guidance for independent eateries and food producers, public awareness campaigns, and joining the dots between people around specific food issues. The Beyond the Food Bank report is conducted with funding form Trust For London.
