Following the success of Good Food Local: London and Good Food Local: The North East, Sustain launches new national assessment tool to help local authorities take meaningful action for a healthy and sustainable food system.
This online launch event for Good Food Local will showcase how Sustain’s new simple self-assessment tool can help your local authority to understand where you are now, and how you can take meaningful action for a healthy and sustainable food system and environment in your local area.
Local authorities are facing multiple challenges and a changing government agenda. A food systems approach can deliver on complex issues such as food poverty, food resilience, diet related ill health, a thriving local economy, and the climate, nature and health crises. But it can be hard to know where to start.
In a recent evaluation of the pilot Good Food Local programme, three quarters of local authorities stated that participation had directly contributed to their authority taking an effective and joined-up approach to food in their area.
This webinar will be useful for all upper tier authority officer and councillor leads on food, sustainability, public health and economic development. It will also be valuable for those who work with councils including food partnerships, climate alliances and voluntary and community sector organisations.
