Lancaster District Food Poverty Alliance
Our aim is to establish a formal food poverty network that coordinates work locally, facilitates collaboration and develops a long term action plan for tackling food poverty locally, and to scope and identify a central base for a community food hub that can become a central point of information and activity for food poverty work locally. We will centrally involve people with lived experience in developing the plan.
Members: Lancaster City Council and Lancashire County Council provide statutory services and City Council hopes to appoint an officer dedicated to food/fuel poverty. Morecambe Bay Foodbank provides crisis food parcels. Intercepted food clubs network run weekly pop up pantries around the district. Claver Hill Farm provides surplus food at no/low cost to community outlets. CVS coordinates voluntary efforts within the district. Lancaster People's Café offers monthly pop up community meals on a PAYF basis.
