Croydon's Food Poverty Action Plan and Community Connect Alliance

Our Community Connect Alliance brings together statutory, private, voluntary and community sector partners with the objective of building community capacity and resilience to support sustainable solutions to food poverty such as improved financial stability, employment, housing and health outcomes. By sharing knowledge, ideas and best practice, our Alliance works together within the community and identifies real opportunities to strengthen and improve outcomes for Croydon residents/families.

How Croydon's Food Poverty Action Plan and Community Connect Alliance is taking action to help tackle food poverty

Improving coordination and navigation of the local welfare safety net
Supporting services that provide financial crisis support and advice
Increasing the uptake of Healthy Start vouchers and the number of retailers who offer and promote the scheme
Ensuring children’s access to food 365 days a year through support of holiday food provision, breakfast clubs and uptake of free school meals
Developing and implementing a food poverty action plan
Supporting alternative retail, e.g. community shops, cooperatives
