Bread oven for sale

Posted 24 October 2011

This generally complete bread oven, built c1930 by Barron’s Engineers of Tooting was used by the Co-op at Helpringham, Lincolnshire, in a purpose built outbuilding from 1948 until possibly the early 1970’s.  The owners of the old Co-op need to convert the outbuilding and wish to remove the oven, but do not want to see it scrapped. This large cast iron oven is 2.2m (H) x 1.6m (W) x 3.4m (L), stands on two brick plinths and has a brick built hearth and chimney.  The owners would require a contribution of £3000 to make good the building after the new owner removed the oven.

Bakery space wanted

We often get queries from Campaign members who need space to set up or expand their Community Supported Bakeries, Real Bread social enterprises, community bread making classes, microbakeries etc.

Examples of spaces people have asked for:

  • Site to park a shipping crate microbakery
  • Affordable site in a residential area for a smallish (i.e one or two deck ovens) bakery cafe - i.e. not on an out of town industrial unit but not necessarily high street prime retail site
  • Small industrial unit
  • High street retail space classified for A3 (food and drink) use
  • We've even had people looking to hire an existing bakery or pizza ovens when  not being used by the owner - is there ever enough downtime in a bakery for someone else to slot in their baking schedule?

If you're a Campaign member and have a space to rent out (or even loan) to a fellow member, please post the details in The Real Baker-e.
