Our Children, Our Future: A parents' manifesto for healthy children's food
Our Children, Our Future is a call from parents to all political parties to prioritise healthy children's food in their manifesto policies and in any new Government. Drawing on insights from over 2000 parents and co-created with The Children's Food Campaign's Ambassadors this manifesto presents five key areas for action that parents believe will make a real difference in children's health.
Today's children play a pivotal role in shaping tomorrow's world. With proper support, we can guarantee that every child has access to healthy and nutritious food, essential for growth and development.
Parents, as advocates for children's health, play a vital role in leading us towards a healthier future. By incorporating parental perspectives and opinions into policymaking, we can create an atmosphere where children and their families are empowered to achieve their fullest potential.
This manifesto highlights the primary concerns of parents from across the UK along with their priorities for change.
Parents have spoken. They are calling upon the government to
- Make free, healthy & sustainable school food a priority for all children from nursery to sixth form/college
- Protect children from the flood of unhealthy food advertisement and marketing
- Ensure honest and trustworthy information is provided on food and drink packaging
- Make nutritious food affordable and accessible to all families
- Put a stop to the sale of high-caffeine energy drinks to children
Our Children, Our Future was developed in collaboration with the Children's Food Ambassadors using research findings from nationwide polling with over 2000 parents, conducted by Savanta. Click here to access the full results of the survey.

Children's Food Campaign: Better food and food teaching for children in schools, and protection of children from junk food marketing are the aims of Sustain's high-profile Children's Food Campaign. We also want clear food labelling that can be understood by everyone, including children.
