Sustain Briefing on extending the Household Support Fund
The Household Support Fund has been critical in helping vulnerable residents access healthy and nutritious food. But the fund is under threat of being discontinued.
We are calling on the Government to:
- Extend the Household Support Fund in the financial year April 2024 to March 2025 as soon as possible and no later than the Spring budget to give councils enough time to plan and deliver allocation at a local level.
- Make the Household Support Fund a permanent fund to allow local authorities to continue to support our most vulnerable residents and allow a flexible allocation, including making provision for the use of cash grants, funding for advice services and collaboration with food partnerships, food poverty alliances and the VCSOs.
