The boss of food manufacturing company Premier Foods, Gavin Darby, was awarded a bonus of £598,500 for the year 2015-2016, topping up his basic pay of £700,000. For the second year in a row, Mr Darby declined to take an increase in his basic salary. Premier Foods' trading profit remained static, at £131 million, in the same period.
Meanwhile Sainsbury's CEO Mike Coupe received a bonus of £757,000, on top of his basic salary of £916,000. Mr Coupe's overall pay, including benefits, shares and pension, was £2.8 million for 2015-16. Sainsbury's underlying profit fell by 13.8% in the same period.
