Take action to defend nature laws

Laws that protect our wildlife and key nature sites are under threat in Europe. Many Sustain members are working to stop that happening including Friends of the Earth and RSPB. Please do take action by using this easy form to respond to an EU consultation on its nature laws.

Places like Dartmoor and Snowdonia are protected by European laws - and so are many other special places.

These laws also protect places that rare bees depend upon, and they have helped bring back rare animals and birds. Farming has a major impact and these laws often help to ensure that impact is a positive one.

But right now the laws are in danger of being watered down. They are under threat as part of a review of regulation by the European Commission, called the Regulatory Fitness and Performance Programme (REFIT).

So far this process has weakened environmental laws and blocked new environmental protections.

Help us to defend nature - and the places that are special to you.

The European Commission has started a public consultation. To take part, please take the action now. You’ll then see the Commission’s questions and suggested answers that best protect nature.

If you prefer to submit your own answers, you can do so here. And here are some answers to Frequently Asked Questions.
