Food Power offers financial support to 26 alliances across UK

Since launching the new programme seven months ago, Food Power is proud to have awarded funding to support alliances tackling the root causes of food poverty from Belfast to Brighton.

With funding from the Big Lottery Fund, the programme has been able to offer financial support for alliances to work on strategic development, coordinate regional peer mentoring networks, develop pilot projects that engage experts by experience and run initiatives that help maximise family incomes. The strength of applications for financial support demonstrates the tenacity and hard work of local areas responding to the crises of food insecurity in the UK and the need for coordinated approaches to addresses the underlying issues.

Read the full list of alliances who have been awarded financial support in 2017-2018.

Further opportunities for alliances to apply for financial support from Food Power will open in autumn 2018 with a focus on strategic alliance development. Any food poverty alliance in the UK that is registered with Food Power is eligible to apply for financial support. Membership with Food Power is open to a wide variety of UK food poverty alliances, whether the group has just recently been established or has been operating for a number of years.  By ‘food poverty alliance’, we mean a partnership or consortium of organisations (ideally drawn from across the public, faith, voluntary and community sectors) who commit to working together to tackle food poverty in a given geographical area.
