50 edible gardens across Birmingham, London and Manchester are inviting people new to ‘growing their own’ to get involved in the fifth annual Big Dig Day on Saturday 16 April, during National Gardening Week.
On Saturday 19 September, seven community food gardens in Manchester are celebrating their harvest with an open day for the public.
The annual Big Dig day kicked off the growing season on Saturday 21 March 2015, and this year saw almost 2000 people come out to support activities taking place across 193 gardens in 36 towns and cities. The event, now in its fifth year, has become an invaluable part of the community food growing calendar, helping groups to get their projects ready for the season ahead and find new volunteers.

Sustain today announced that 16 towns and cities have signed up to be part in the nation's biggest community gardening volunteering day on Saturday 22nd March 2014, with over 100 gardens already signed up.
On 21st September 2013, over 160 of the UK's community food-growing gardens will be throwing open their gates to the public in the largest open event of food-growing spaces in the UK.
