Keep Britain Tidy shortlisted for charity award

Posters that feature glow-in-the-dark eyes are helping to keep our streets and parks cleaner

Sustain member Keep Britain Tidy is well known for its work combating junk food litter. But it is now winning praise for a campaign against another blight on public spaces, namely dog fouling. Its We're watching You campaign uses posters with a pair of large, disapproving eyes that glow at dusk -- which is apparently the time when dog owners think they can get away with letting their pets foul paths and verges.

The campaign has been adopted by more than 100 local authorities across England, some of which have reported reductions of up to 90% since introducing the posters. The campaign has been shortlisted for an award in the the Environment and Conservation category in the Charity Awards, the sector’s most highly-regarded scheme to recognise excellence.
