Durham celebrates sustainable fish milestone

Durham City has become only the second place in the UK to achieve 4 stars in their bid to become a Sustainable Fish City.

The campaign, led locally by Food Durham, and has achieved pledged support from caterers serving over 5.5 million meals per year, including Durham University, Durham County Council, hospitals, nearly all schools, and well-loved restaurants including Bells Fish and Chips and Oldfields.

Food Durham is now calling on any Durham workplaces that have a staff dining facility to support the campaign, and thereby achieve the fifth star and become a sustainable fish city.

Fish-serving businesses and organisations can support Durham's campaign by signing the Sustainable Fish Cities Pledge.
