Scottish GM ban

Scottish rural affairs secretary Richard Lochhead has announced the country will ban the growing of genetically modified foods.

Scotland will request an opt out of any European consents for the cultivation of GM crops. Sustain member the Soil Association welcomed the move, and called for England, Wales and Northern Ireland to follow suit. However the NFU in Scotland said they were disappointed by the decision.
