Get ready for National Vegetarian Week and Meat-Free May

Two events in May aim to encourage more people to cut down on meat consumption

May 16-22 is the 16th National Vegetarian Week, and as usual the Vegetarian Society is hoping to make a big splash. This year, they are asking groups and individuals to send in their vegetarian-themed stories, photographs, traditions, memories  and recipes, to be displayed online at a site to be called The Kitchen Table. The Society also has resource packs and some funds available for groups wanting to organize their own activities -- more information here.

Meanwhile, Friends of the Earth wants to persuade as many people as possible to go meat-free for May, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect resources and improve health.
