You will need:
A dice numbered 1 to 6 per pair of chilren, photocopy of the
market stall picture (one per pair and preferably enlarged
to A2)
|
- Players take turns to roll the dice so that it lands on one
of the squares of produce on the
picture of the market stall. The number on the dice represents
the number of pieces of
fruit or vegetable bought. For example, if the dice lands on the
apples and shows number
4, 4 apples are bought. If the dice shows 6 on the pears then
6 pears are bought and so on.
- Keep a record of the number of items bought and the price paid
in the table.
- The player who has paid the smallest amount of money at the
end of the game is the winner.

- Problem solving activity
Use your record sheet from the game to write some tricky maths
problems for your partner,
for example, "I paid 42p for 3 pieces of the same fruit.
Which fruit did I buy?"
