In order to plan and implement an effective Grab 5! campaign in
a school, information about childrens eating habits, healthy
eating knowledge and food preferences will need to be collected
and analysed.
The children could be asked to:
- Define the purpose of a survey and decide what data is required.
- Design different types of questionnaires and survey sheets to
be used to collect information.
- Use the information to create a database.
- Present the data using different types of graphs.
- Use the data to answer questions, identify trends or make predictions.
Other uses of a database might include:
- Keeping a record of the money collected by a tuck shop.
- Keeping a record of the items purchased in the tuck shop.
- Keeping a record of the height of seedlings grown by the children.
- Keeping a record of changes in the number of children selecting
salad at school meals.
