The following cartoon can be used as a basis for a reading exercise.
The children can then rewrite it so that Ronald has a healthy day
and eats lots of fruit and vegetables. Alternatively, don't use
the cartoon, but tell the children to create two contrasting fictional
characters. One character should have a healthy diet and lifestyle
whilst the other does all of the things associated with a poor diet
and an unhealthy lifestyle.
Ask the children to do some role plays based around the characters,
for example:
- A conversation between the characters in which they each try
to persuade the other to adopt
their form of diet and lifestyle.
- An interview with one of the characters.
- A conversation between a doctor or fitness instructor and one
of the characters.
- A conversation between a junk food salesperson and one of the
characters.
- A visit to a cafe or restaurant.
- A conversation between one of the characters and their own family.
