1. Memory game
Back

This is a version of a vocabulary and memory game that requires the children to recite a list of objects arranged in alphabetical order. Each player must recite the list of objects chosen by the previous players and add their own choice of item beginning with the correct letter of the alphabet.

For example,

Child 1: “I packed my lunchbox and in it I put an apple.“
Child 2: “I packed my lunchbox and in it I put an apple and a banana.“
Child 3: “I packed my lunchbox and in it I put an apple, a banana and a cherry.“ ...

The teacher should set the rules about the sorts of items that can be included in the list, e.g. any foods, fruits only, vegetables only, whether to allow adjectives to take the place of nouns, e.g. accepting juicy peach for letter J.

An additional element to this activity could be to collect fruits or vegetables or other foods that begin with as many different letters of the alphabet as possible.
