Step 3. Get a coordinator

Who will be the coordinator in your area may be clear from the beginning. If not, the steering group will need to identify this person. Once this person has been identified, determine their role. We recommend you consider the following roles:

Networking. Keeping schools and steering group members informed of project developments and enabling them to participate in planning processes.
Organising city/borough/area wide initiatives. Planning, organising and running initiatives that will support all the schools in your project. Examples of such initiatives include, training days for school staff, awareness raising days for school cooks, competitions, newsletters, and supplying produce.
Supporting schools. Helping schools plan, implement and review their project. See below for more details on how this might be done.

'I feel a huge strength has been the reliability and organisation of
our coordinator. What they said, they did'
'Our coordinator was the driving force. Their approach and
personality made all the difference to its success'.
