Projects
Yale Sustainable Food Project
In early 2000 the seeds of the Yale Sustainable Food Project were sown with the initiative of a group of Yale students. In 2006, the project began running a series of educational events in an effort to increase the portion of Yale’s academic and extracurricular landscape devoted to food and sustainable agriculture. These events comprise speakers, films, workshops, field trips, and a bi-annual conference. By now, the Sustainable Food Project manages an organic farm on campus, runs diverse programs that support exploration and academic inquiry related to food and agriculture, and collaborates on a sustainable dining program at Yale. By creating opportunities for students to experience food, agriculture, and sustainability as integral parts of their education and everyday life, the Sustainable Food Project ensures that Yale graduates have the capacity to effect meaningful change as individuals and as leaders in their communities, their homes, and their life’s work.
