The alliance
Sustain is the alliance for better food and farming. Membership is open to national organisations that do not distribute profits to private shareholders and are constituted to operate in the public interest.
The organisations must be wholly or partly interested in food or farming issues and support the general aims and work of the alliance. Support for particular projects or campaigns is on an "opt in" basis, so membership of Sustain does not mean that an organisation gives its backing to each Sustain initiative.

Action on Salt is a group of specialists concerned with salt and its effects on health. It is working to reach a consensus with the food industry over the harmful effects of a high salt diet, and bring about a reduction in the amount of salt in processed foods as well as salt added to cooking, and the table.

FoodCycle build communities through the provision of a three-course meal for people who are experiencing hunger and loneliness. Social Farms and Gardens (formerly the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens) is the British (UK) organisation representing groups involved in community led development of open space through locally managed farming and gardening.
Soil Association
The Soil Association was founded in 1946 by a group of farmers, scientists and nutritionists who were concerned about the way our food was produced. Over 50 years they have grown in complexity and scope but at their core remains the fundamental link between healthy soil, healthy food and healthy people.

Students Organising for Sustainability UK (SOS-UK)
SOS-UK is NUS’s brand new sustainability and wellbeing charity. It was set up from the ground-breaking work done by NUS’s former sustainability department which became the biggest department within the organisation and outgrew NUS. SOS-UK plan to build on NUS’s successful student-led sustainability and wellbeing projects, programmes and campaigns, allowing them to go much further and faster in response to increasing student demand for our work.

The Country Trust
The Country Trust is a small, dynamic national education charity dedicated to bringing alive the working countryside for children who are least able to access it. Since 1978, The Country Trust has made it possible for over half a million disadvantaged young children to experience high quality farm visits, and for farmers and landowners to share with them their passion for food, farming and the countryside. Each year, over 19,000 children from some of Britain’s most deprived families, experience day visits to real working farms, nearly a thousand children benefit from subsidised residential farm stays and more than 1500 pupils engage in our longer-term food discovery programmes, both in school and through visiting farms.

The Real Farming Trust
The Real Farming Trust (then known as the Winged Horse Trust) was formed in 1997 by Colin Tudge and his wife, Ruth West. The Scottish Pantry Networks vision is to create a sustainable network of pantries providing low-cost food and wrap around services. The pantry is a dignified approach empowering communities to help themselves. The Pantry will support upskilling the community through volunteering and employability opportunities, with the shop itself being utilised as a training facility.

Think Through Nutrition
The brain's essential nutrients are just that - essential to the brain and behaviour. Think Through Nutrition conducts research into the link between nutrition and behaviour, promoting public understanding and working to effect policy change. They are trying to understand where and how nutritional intervention will benefit the community: in schools, social services and the justice system. Potential cost-savings are significant, and the costs of improving nutrition are relatively modest.

This Is Rubbish
This is Rubbish works to reduce industry and supply chain food waste in the UK and beyond, using policy campaigns, education, the arts and public events. Their campaigns include Stop the Rot which has the twin aims of calling for publicly accountable transparency for food waste in the UK food supply chain and for ambitious industry targets to reduce this food waste. The campaign calls for this to happen through voluntary CSR initiatives by UK businesses and through regulation at national and international levels. It is particularly focused on a public petition and lobbying for mandatory food waste reduction targets in the EU circular economy package.
